Irish Setters – Bitches
Rear movement has improved since I last judged bitches but I was concerned to see so many which were very upright in shoulder assembly & quite a few loose fronts. I was very pleased to find so many bitches of true breed type.
1. Mugford’s Lynwood Sealed With A Kiss
A very typy balanced baby with everything in place from her lovely lean head to her well set on tail. Moved with purpose. Full of promise. They say that on the day there is always one you could take home, today for me this young lady was it, I liked her very much.
2. Evan’s’ Goldings Half A Sixpence
Very much a baby & not quite so together as winner, but she also has the promise of much to come. Particularly liked her quarters & croup. Needs to settle on the move.
3. Mugford’s Strands of Silk
1. Muir’s Romarne Melinda
Beautiful dark-coated bitch full of breed type, lovely head neck & shoulders. Has done a lot of winning & I can see why. Really drives off her quarters on the move & shows enthusiasm, just needs to steady a little. BPIB & puppy group 4
2. Muir’s Romarne Melissa
Litter sister to winner & very much the same type but bigger all over. Fails in head to her sister but is very mature & well coated.
3. Edden’s Meadway Miranda
1. Stockton’s Kespas Intuition
Very much her mother’s daughter. Compact bitch, clean topline, and good angulation fore & aft. Moved very steadily & covered the ground well. Would prefer just a little more length to her.
2. Quinn’s Wickenberry Cyclamen
Longer cast bitch than winner, again a nice clean topline & another who uses her quarters well on the move, just needs time to mature.
3. Pike’s Scarletti Katie Scarlett
Special Yearling
1. Proctor’s Serrula Angelina
A young lady maturing at just the right rate, nicely balanced with good length, shown in lovely coat condition & muscle tone, moved very soundly.
2. Powis’ Amberwave Spangle JW
This young lady possesses a very clean outline as expected from this kennel, particularly liked her over neck & shoulders, shown in good hard muscular condition & this showed in her sound movement.
3. Berry & Morris’ Brinara Cascia
1. K. Intuition
2. Pike’s Scarletti Katy Scarlett
Third in a strong junior class. This young lady is very typical of what one expects from this kennel, utter femininity & the cleanest of lines, flows from nose to tail, unfortunately had left her coat at home today.
3. Drinkwater’s Brabrook Waikiki Romancer
A very strong & hotly contested class.
1. Morley’s Cheveney Love Me Do JW
Very much my type of bitch, long lean head with expressive dark eye, nice neck & shoulders, good front angulation, the length I like with a strong topline. Moved very well to take this class & was considered for top honours but just failed to give of her best in the challenge.
2. Richardson’s Kirkavagh Frivola
A new one to me & one who appealed greatly, liked her head which had lovely planes & lots of work in it, good body properties, good coat & pigment , moved well but was unfortunate to come up against the winner in such fine form.
3. Pike’s Glenury Countess
1. Sheldon’ Delsanto Charmaine
Nice headed bitch with lovely neck & shoulders, good rib & length, lovely coat pigment, was one of the few who used her tail on the move, needs coat to finish the picture but won her place on her overall conformation & soundness.
2. Kavanagh’s Withersdale Kupola.
Another bitch of the type I like, appealed greatly in head, true Irish expression, scored in quarters, excellent croup & tailset, another who moved soundly & with purpose, given time will trouble the best.
3. Pollard’s Grace O’ Malley JW
1. Powis’ Amberwave Dazzle JW
Not a small one but retains femininity, cleanest of outlines, no unsightly lumps or bumps, balanced all through with lovely sweeping quarters, moved with drive, just needs to finish in coat to complete the picture. RCC
2. Hawkin’s Henaleas Flirting Around JW
A very eye-catching bitch with much to like about her but for me there was just a little too much of her all over. Shown in excellent coat & condition, moved OK.
3. Davies’ Crynllis Moondust over Lunaline
Open
1. Muir’s Sh. Ch. Romarne Rheane
Nice sized bitch, neither too large or too small, lots of work in her expressive head, dark eye, good front, not overdone in quarters, rich dark coat, moves with drive & enthusiasm, looked as if she could go all day. A worthy champion CC.
2. Wharton’s Sh. Ch. Delsanto Eleanor of Jennison
Slightly bigger all over than winner but is very similar in type, a bitch that is very hard to fault, for me she just failed in head to the winner but scored in croup. Another sound mover.
3. Stockton’s Sh. Ch. Clonageera Inspiration For Kespas
